Everybody has their own secret love when it comes to music.
Usually it happens because your friends don't hold that particular type of music in high favor.
I think for me, the only music I'd really be ashamed to admit enjoying is Bryan Adams.
He was one of the group of ballad singers that came out in the 80's and I used to listen to him on the radio.
Now "Summer of 69" isn't a song I'm ashamed of, but I think it's the exception to the rule with this guy.
Most of the rest of his music is some sort of love song.

Mine would have to be J-pop. I mean like the really poppy songs. The song called "Welcome UNKNOWN" that's sung by Aya Hirano and Chihara Minori comes to mind. If you've ever heard that song then you know it's really.. not my regular music type, which is rock. Pretty much most of the Haruhi character albums are part of this guilty pleasure.
I can't help that I like this music.. it's just awesome sometimes.

Avril Lavigne. All my guy friends make fun of me for listening to her, so I make sure to never play her while they're around. Although, I think her new CD really sucks. I wish she'd have stayed with a more "rock/punk" sound rather than just putting out a pop album.

Haha I have admit, and I'll be branded a hypocrite by my friends if they ever found out..
but artists such as Tiesto,Cascada, John Gibbons, Basshunter, Special D...i quite enjoy that haha!
Alot really :3.
I am always complaining about how the teenagers and people my age in Ireland don't listen to good music anymore, but when I go out to the Disco, and they play that Music, I go totally wild and I love it haha.
My friends are more into either Emo or 80's or Indie music, and I spend alot of time complaining about this kind of music, when really I do enjoy it.

I find nothing more fun than driving up beside someone in my mustang on one of the main strips in my city with a great symphonic piece blaring out my rolled down windows. The looks I get

. The only thing I feel a little ashamed about is liking artists like Ingrid Michelson who may be considered fairly girly.
@TheNat:
I actually have two male friends who are quite proud of their fanship of Avril. One of them also has no problem bumping down the street while listening to Fergie.
Speaking of punk rock, have you ever heard of the classic punk group called "X"? I was watching South by Southwest and saw them playing. The changes punk rock has gone through: If you thought todays punk rockers can't sing all that well, these guys don't have a clue when it comes to vocals.

I, being the most metal person in the known universe, have a confession. I could listen to any amount of sad, slow, weeping and any j-pop song that comes along endlessly. I, the man with a heart of stone, enjoy more than anything else in the world sitting down and feel emotional while listening to a song. BUT NOT EMO, that isnt feelings, thats complaining.

I look at it as just another way of expressing the same emotions.
Metal has it's roots in darkness as well. It just expresses itself in a more aggressive manner.
Emo just seems somewhat
adolescent to those of us who don't enjoy it.
I can't really rag on the music too much, but I certainly don't care for the lifestyle.
I can hardly believe that I'm coming to the defense of Emo.
I was about to throw a negative post out, and then I realized some similarities.
Emo isn't too far off from the Grunge movement of the 90's, and I'm a big fan of that music.
Musically it may be quite different, but the emotional source is much the same.

Techno is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwweeeeeessssssoooooooommmmmmeeeeeeeeeee.
My absolute favorite! Don't be ashamed to like it!
With techno there is such control over the sound that is produced. It allows for such distinct sounds and songs. :]

Dude, Regina Spektor is awesome.
Anyways, my guilty pleasure would have to be... certain... Exceptions to the rap genre. AND RAIJIN, before you jump on this, I still stand by what I've said. The rap I like is in a separate playing field than anything you listen to or defend.
That being said.
Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip is the most glorious rap/techno I've heard.
Another guilty pleasure would be songs like Caramelldansen and the speedycake remix, if anyone knows what that is.

-Michael Jackson*When I was a kid, I loved me some MJ. He was crazy! His music was all Pop Gansgter or something, and his music videos were awesome. And even though the full-length movies he made were horrifyingly horrible, they still mesmerized me.
-Weird Al*Yeah, I'd have to agree. But again, I heard Weird Al as a kid and grew up with him. Come on, who DOESN'T want to hear a Coolio song get destroyed and then Coolio himself getting pissed about it.
-Coheed and Cambria*I don't care whaty anyone say, CaC are fucking amazing. They are modern day progressive emo metal, and hybrid of many great genres, and the Claudio (the singer) can hit notes that most women couldn't hit. And its like, Retro Rush with Dream Theater. Fantastic!

Music by Cirque du Soleil. Yes, fucking clown music a.k.a. Cirque music. I was flipping channels years back and ran across a performance called
Varekai on Bravo. I don't even like clowns but if you saw the unbelievable these people were doing you too would be hooked.
The music? Simply mesmerizing. I've read reviews about the audio CD and how disappointed some non-fans and newbies were with it. I still bought it but being the audiophile that I am I ripped the DVD and made my own mp3s of the show...
So my secret four are:
Bjork,
Cocteau Twins,
Ladytron and fucking clown music.
