Xerces
Everyone has there favorite music that they listen to when they want to get hyped up, or to pass the time.

My question is this - what music do you listen to when you want to slow down, to de-stress and chill out.

I like some of the Chillout Annuals by the Ministry of Sound and some New Age stuff, such as Bhudda Bar - some Traditional Classical music or some of the more "classical" remixes by DJ Tiesto - Forever Young, Adagio for Strings, Just Be & Sweet Misery to name a few.

What about you?

I normally listen to Smooth Jazz to slow down. You know the stuff like Herb Alpert, and Norah Jones for example. I am peterbed however, that there is now smooth jazz stations on the radio where I live. I also listen to the Adult Contemporary as well to cool me down when I'm hot as well.
Outback Steakhouse Lover
Oh god smooth jazz annoys the hell out of me. Its so aggravating.

What i listen to is metal at a quiet to medium volume. its soothing cause its pretty much a constant rumbling.
ace
Well I'm usually listening to metal that can't exactly wind me down, so at the moment I relax listening to a symphonic version of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack. It's really good and can fit really any mood.
Nightmaren
Cream by Yoko Kanno.. on repeat.. for 6 hours..
Sekou Shaka
I usually listen to techno/trance. A certain mix CD that I have no idea on who any of the artists are. =[ Good disc, though. Type O Negative is pretty mello too.
BleedItClean
There are three songs that seem to bring me back to normal. First is Wake Me Up When September Ends. Second is Headfirst for Halos, good for depression too. And last is Teadrop.
Masamunect

Well... Names of songs I guess.

I listen to softer alternative music when I feel out of it. Like Coldplay, or Nada Surf. Their music really helps relieve the tension.

I listen to bands like Anathema, Coldplay, some songs of Radiohead and Pink Floyd, En Enra of Onmyouza, and others ...
But I mostly listen to Anathema when i'm really depressed lol.
Sukaba
I really like Enigma... If you've never heard it, you should give it a listen. Its very relaxing and soothing.
Havoc
Yeah, Enigma's one of my favourites. They do melodious music and New Age stuff, I like their older albums (MCMXC AD and circa Singles) more. I also listen to Coldplay and some South Asian classics/remixes, and random Trance songs from Paul Van Dyk and others.

Sublime...calms me down almost immediately...

Dave Matthews Band, some nice bluesy rock

My best choice for slowing down, de-stress is latin jazz (bossa nova) and lounge music. It's really fun listening to latin jazz when you feel tired/ stressed. At least for me..

BunBunChan
Lately I listen to
The Script "We cry"
It just depends what mood I am really, but I tend to listen to Indie songs when I wanna relax and read a book and stuff, as long as it's not hyper and stuff, or very poppy, because that'll give me a big energy boost.
But yeah nothing special really :].
sideways
Iron & Wine if I want words, or Sigur Ros if I'm fine with something mostly instrumental. Definitely helps me downshift.
hetaic

Doomspank
The Postal Service and Regina Spektor. The Beatles if I'm feeling eccentric.
And old-skool rap like Eazy-E or Cypress Hill makes me feel pretty good. They make me want to do something, but something chill, you know? Well, Cypress Hill usually just makes me want to get stoned, but... That's pretty low-key, if you ask me.

Probably the most calming music I've ever listened to are Chopin's nocturnes. Such beautiful music, often almost hauntingly calm. If your not into pianos probably Postal Service, some Death Cab for Cuite, and Damien Rice... very mellow stuff.

Joe Hisashi
Babyface
Berlioz
Strauss
Nobuo Uematsu

Listening to Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath right now. God it's relaxing.
Seriously, if you just want to wind down, give it a listen, it's nothing like typical Sabbath/metal of any kind.
