Neil Diamond. I am on a Neil Diamond kick.

Anybody listen to their parents music, and actually like it? It must be an age thing.
ShinnAsuka
Well my parents music would be stuff like AC/DC, Metallica, Led Zepplin, Iron Maiden etc.

I listen to all that stuff. Best music ever.

Wait, so I am like your dad. I used to listen to all that in highschool. Some Metallica was too heavy for me.

It is my opinion, that may be shared among the majority, that todays music is either unimaginative noise, or some form of a remake. I stopped listening to music nearly altogether.
putskri123
I listen to Beatles, Bee Gees, and Kenny ROgers which my parents really love.
Outback Steakhouse Lover
Probably the greatest band ever which is considered parents' music: Dire Straits.

and also some john mayer, but he's not that good imo.
Spectre
Dire Straits... there's a good band for you. Sultans of Swing and Brothers in Arms come to mind. How about the Eagles, Kansas, Cream, and ZZTop? All good bands I listen to all the time from my demographics parents age. Of course I listen to everything else already mentioned in this thread as well. I'm basically stuck from the 60's to the early-to-mid 90's. smile.gif

I think it's sad that you stopped listening to a lot of music. Granted, there is a lot of rubbish out there..but there are some gems too. I don't know what kind of music you like so I can't recommend any..but I just think everybody's lives should be filled with some form of music

Oh goddamn you. I saw that and immediately all I heard was...
"Everywhere around the world they're comin' to America"

I hope that isn't stuck in my head for too long.

I can't say that I actively listen to what they did, but I know most of it. They used to listen to a lot of Billy Joel and Neil Diamond and all that. And classical. I think the classical was for their kid's sake, so they wouldn't grow up to be completely uncultured white trash. Oh yeah, and the old man was into Enya for a while. Double dammit! What was that song? Now I'm going to have to fire up the CitrusWire to find it.

Lately though, they have gone over to the dark side and embraced country. At least that shit won't get stuck in my head.

notice anything unsure.gif how about Led Zeppelin, or the Beatles ohmy.gif apparently one of the two founding fathers of heavy metal (Led Zeppelin) is still influential (the other is Black Sabbath in case you didn't know)and who doesn't like the Beatles apparently our musical heritage isn't wasted on the new generation.

we are getting close to that point, but if that really is your opinion then i suggest listening to the trash can drummers, i can't remember there name but they are really quite interesting and defiantly not a remake.

My parents like stuff like Journey, Meatloaf, Blue Oyster Cult, The Police, Aerosmith, Van Halen and Boston. I enjoy pretty much all of it, though some of it is a little lame. I've been pretty into Blue Oyster Cult lately actually.
simon_shaft
You can say that my parents were kinda old fashioned. They loved those oldies back in the 60's
Kristopher
Uh think my mother listens alot to "gay italian males who sings their gay sound solo music" or atleast something along that line haha. Keep bullying her about it since she never can remember their names either haha. Awsome... cool.gif

Edit: Yeah I am NOT against gay people and think they should be able to get married like everyone else but hey! They can, atleast here in Sweden! A place where they also throw pastors in prision! Well atleast when they preach that gay people are like they are because they of cancer in their brain. That pastor went down fast, hell yeah!

my dad listens to all kinds of stuff, old and new. he got me into ministry, the prodigy, spiderbait, michael jackson, tom waits plus a bunch of jazz artists. he was always into classic prog rock, but i've gotten him into some of the newer stuff like porcupine tree, dream theater, spocks beard, planet x etc. i also got into classic rock/metal stuff like black sabbath and led zeppelin without realising he liked them as well

Most of the good domestic music I know, I know because my mother brought it to my attention.

The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty. She also introduced me to Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Primus. When I was about 12-18, she had really good musical taste. She even showed me Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, proving not all country sucked.

It was a crying shame when she started listening to Kenny Chesney and gospel-era Elvis. A real pity.
andy10_07

I picked up most of what I enjoy from my dad. Pink Floyd, Bob Segar, Tommy Bolin, etc...
It is pretty fortunate that I enjoy his music, because I'm pretty sure he blasts it at 30,000 decibels whether people around him like it or not.
Ghoul
