Well, Guitars alone doesn't make a band. Personally I've always thought that in alot of bands the bassline is cooler than the guitar riffs. So who's your favorite bassists?
EDIT:Heheh Sorry about that...I had to go to work and I didn't realize I only had about 5 minutes while I was making this...Anyway, more of my favorite bassists.
1. The Dro-DSA
2. Bootsy Collins-Bootzilla
3. Joe Principe-Rise Against
4. Simen Hestnęs-Demon Burger! (Dimmu Borgir)
5. Jerry Only-The Misfits
6. Gene Simmons-KISS
7. "Ollie"-Rammstein
8. Siggy Sjursen-Powerman 5000
9. Dave Pybus-Cradle of Filth
10. Argyle Goolsby-Blitzkid

I do...

Listen to some Rise Against, specifically Like the Angel. Joe Principe is an amazing bassist, especially with the intro and outro of Like the Angel.
Cliff Burton was absolutely insane. Such a shame about him. Apart from him, I guess I don't really listen to that many badns with good bass, but Steve Harris of Iron Maiden's pretty good.
I've seen one video of Victor Wooten and he totally blew my socks off though, so maybe if I listen to soem more of him, he'll be my favourite.

Hmmm, it sounds like not too many people listen to "Underground" Rock/Metal. The more exposed a band's guitarists and such get, the less the bassists get a chance to prove they're fucking great.

I sure do
I like Marcus Miller, a Jazz Bass Guitarist
And Wayman Tisdale, former Sacramento King and a good bass guitarist that plays bass as a lead guitarist.
For those of you that broaden your horizens and listen to Jazz, these 2 guys are some good bass players.

John Myung - Dream Theater
You know what though...he's not. I mean, he might be but you really can't hear the bass (because of how its mixed, cause its metal) and also the lines are pretty basic (you know, cause its metal). I love Dream Theater...but the bassist is overrated. Also, 6 strings is too much.
Now, someone who's underrated, actually more like never mentioned...Janik Top of Magma.

John Myung of Dream Theater totally shreds on a six string! NOBODY plays the six string! It's not possible! The neck is just TOO wide. Yet, this guy does it like it's nothing! He can SWEEP...ON A BASS!!! NOBODY can sweep on a bass!
That being said, Les Claypool is the greatest bassist ever. He's even better than Flea. Has anyone ever heard Sacred Cow or Nature Boy by Primus? Not to mention that he's writing the soundtracks for the Mushroom Men video games coming out for Nintendo Wii and DS.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater anyone? Jerry Was a Race Car Driver FTW.

Now, I love Les to death, but I will have to say that Victor Wooten is a better player than Claypool. If you ever listen to his version of "Amazing Grace" you'll know what I mean...the man is truly amazing. Even his non-solo work (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) are astounding.
