I think Travis from Blink 182 is pretty sweet.
i know he's not as big as others, but just seeing him live all pumped up and playing was an experience.

As I like jazz, drummers like Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich top this list for me, or would if they weren't dead. Krupa because he could make drums sound truly musical and Rich because he was so fast yet so clean in his technique...brilliant.
I also like a guy called Ray Cooper who is more a percussionist and not "just a drummer". Whenever there is some huge concert for somebody with a large ensemble of 'big' name musicians from the past, Eric Claton etc, there in the background, on the drums, banging a gong or some other instrument that requires hitting, is Ray Cooper. As for the new breed of drummer, I just don't always trust that they are as good as they sound, music synthesis has come a long way very quickly and I'm extremely cynical, I'm sure many are truly excellent but I suspect that quite a few couldn't keep time with a metronome strapped to their head.

Bev Bevan of Electric Light Orchestra:

There's also Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac, I always liked his sound.
And Bill Ward of Black Sabbath, Ian Paice of Deep Purple (two of the greatest drummers ever IMO), and Bill Bruford of Yes.

Too bad Blink and Sum41 aren't punk... Though, I guess Sum41 is more punk than Blink. Old old OLLLD A Fire Inside is more punk than both combined, though, from what I have heard of them.
I am not sure who's my favourite drummer, but the drummer from Spastic Ink/Demons & Wizards is pretty sick.

Uhh, no, they're not. The Who, Sex Pistols, Misfits, Ramones are some of the well known old punk bands. Sum 41 and Blink are just poprock crap bands. Nothing punk about them. Or check out Leftover Crack (punk/ska). Skyclad is also more punk than either of those bands (though they're punk/heavy metal/irish folk).

I used to really get offended when people would say Blink and Sum 41 where punk, because I grew up listening to the old punk like Dead Kennedys, Sub Hum Ans, Crass, etc.
It seemed to have so much more meaning (not saying the new stuff doesn't have meaning) Im just saying that punk was a mindset...not just music, clothing, spikes, and mohawks...but now I don't really care what it's called, I guess the guitar (all power chords) are similar. I do however get mad when people refer to Avril as punk...explain to me what is punk about her?

Mike Portnoy.
Easily one of the best drummers alive.
Seeing his drum equipment makes my testicles drop to the floor and his technique makes my head explode into rainbow and candy.
/thread.
Edit: I know not everyone will agree with me, but I just can't understand the hype about Joe Jordison. I'm not a drummer, but I consider myself to have some basic knowledge and I don't find his older and recent work to be neither interesting nor astoundingly skillful.

Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden has to be the best drummer alive. Period. i know of no one else in rock who can do the bass pedal as fast and technical as he can. Listen to "Where Eagles Dare" and tell me he's not a god. He uses one base pedal to do double bass beats, and his hits is huge. Most drummers just use it for show, but not nicko. He Plays the whole fucking set, gong and all. Also, he doesn't play straight beats to the song (I.e: Along with the base beat for beat), so it allows the chance for the greatest Bass player ever (Steve Harris) to be heard, as well as giving a complementary backbone to the Bass.

Brann Dailor is incredible despite his over-usage of snare fills.
Bill Bruford will always be incredible though his work with King Crimson is probably his best.
Jordison, Barker, and Cool are kinda hacks.
And I'd get all high and mighty about punk if I didn't think it'd just devolve into a meaningless argument.

Mike Portnoy of DT
seeing his technique make me shock
Dave McClain of Machine Head is pretty amazing, his drumming is complex and fast and he keeps it up for ages. The stamina and skill required is immense. The same goes for Children of Bodom drummer Jaska Raatikainen and In Flames' Daniel Svensson.
As much as I love Metallica, Lars Ulrich isn't one of my favourite drummers (apart from him being a bit of a bastard his drumming isn't insanely amazing) but I've got to say he can keep time very well.

I was going through the posts wondering when someone was going to mention him. ?uestlove is one of the most versatile drummers I've ever gotten an opportunity to hear. He can play any genre, anything he hears, or just go freestyle at the drop of a hat with or without a vocalist and never break a sweat.
If you haven't noticed.. I'm a fan.
