Danny Carey (tool)
Virgil Donati (planet x, steve vai, plus heaps more)
Thomas Lang, i don't know much about this guy. i think he's a session drummer. a friend showed me a dvd of his, he's an insane drummer

Too bad Blink and Sum41 aren't punk... Though, I guess Sum41 is more punk than Blink. Old old OLLLD A Fire Inside is more punk than both combined, though, from what I have heard of them.
I am not sure who's my favourite drummer, but the drummer from Spastic Ink/Demons & Wizards is pretty sick.
QUOTE(Kei~ChaN @ Aug 1 2007, 10:14 PM)

TRAVIS FROM BLINK 182 LOL
Sum 41 and Blink isn't punk??now i'm really dizzy what the word 'punk' mean >.<
QUOTE(LarkhillV @ Aug 2 2007, 06:23 AM)

Uhh, no, they're not. The Who, Sex Pistols, Misfits, Ramones are some of the well known old punk bands. Sum 41 and Blink are just poprock crap bands. Nothing punk about them. Or check out Leftover Crack (punk/ska). Skyclad is also more punk than either of those bands (though they're punk/heavy metal/irish folk).
QUOTE(link no1 @ Aug 6 2007, 02:32 AM)

sum 41 and blink are punk, there new punk tho
i.e old punk is political , but new punk is just random stuff cos they have nothing else to relly write about

annddd...although i like her...avril lavigne is not ... and NEVER will be ... punk
yes i know its a lot of quotes but deal anyway as a die hard punk fan i gotta put my foot down on this one first of as stated bands like blink 182 and sum 41 are not punk lol and neither is the who though a cool band not punk secondly to say that a new punk band wouldn't have anything to write about politicaly is ignorant srry but it is seriously do you even watch the news XD thirdly to add some not
extremely well known bands to the punk list you got black flag, the stooges, even the velvet underground (kinda), the dead kennedys, gbh, mdc, the exploited all good punk bands
and as far as the thread topic goes my favorite drummer is tim alexander of primus he might not be the fastest or have the most complicated riffs but he's got a truely unique style and is deffinatly not lacking in tallent

I can't believe no one's mentioned Thomas Lang (Forgive me if I'm mistaken, I skim read.)
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer..._type=&aq=fHe has insane technical skills, his stick-playing alone is warrant enough for him to be considered pro.

Mike Portnoy.
Easily one of the best drummers alive.
Seeing his drum equipment makes my testicles drop to the floor and his technique makes my head explode into rainbow and candy.
/thread.
Edit: I know not everyone will agree with me, but I just can't understand the hype about Joe Jordison. I'm not a drummer, but I consider myself to have some basic knowledge and I don't find his older and recent work to be neither interesting nor astoundingly skillful.
yeah , some people go with popularity , and i guess they misslead best with ''popular''
i dont like liquid tention or dream theather but i must say they are top shape musicians, as for myself my favorite drummer is the one from emperor, trym . hes just amazingly skilled and brutal, my taste thats all..
oh and for joey from slipknot, well, he's good but, he does'nt belong in a best drummer list,
travis from blink has won several drumm constest, even jazz ones, hes great even if i dont like new blink. just the early

John Bonham from Led Zeppelin! Listen to the track moby dick off of "II"...crazy drum solo
I have to concur with Mr. Xylin here! John Bonham is definitely amoungst the two best drummers of all time;
he other I would have to say is Keith Moon, not only for the drumming in racks like my generation and who are you, but for his general nutiness
Also, u cant ignore the genius of Animal from the muppets!

Dave McClain of Machine Head
His tone is sooo thick and cuts through the music nicely, his accuracy is amazing and his technique is even more impressive.
Vinnie Paul of Pantera is not that technical but again his accuracy is pin point with super sharp precission timing.

Faves for me are Keith Moon (Who), John Bonham (Zeppelin), Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) and I've always thought a lot of punk drummers are good (classic, awesome punk, not all this pop-punk stuff

)

I'd say Keith Moon or Travis Barker

Neil Peart - his technique is amazing and his kit is humongous heres a pic of it live

also i love slayers drum Dave Lombardo he's extremely fast and his beats flow very well

saw blink live 3 times, Travis Barker <3 what a drummer. Best drummer iv seen live anyway
Chris Kontos is a great drummer. He was with Machine Head for their first album, then pissed off to play with a band called Il Nino I think...
Traitor.
Still an amazing drummer. Very fast and technical, pin point crisp accuracy and some of the most suiting drumming I have ever heard for metal.

I'd probably have to go with Dominic Howard of Muse, really brilliant stuff that guy does. I highly recommend checking out the live versions of the following songs: Map of the Problematique, Assassin, Knights of Cydonia, Feeling Good, Hoodoo, City of Delusion, Stockholm Syndrome, Showbiz, I could go on and on with this list...

I'd say Lopez and Axenrot are some of my favourites. As well as Frederik Ehmke and Thomen Stauch. Inferno from Behemoth isn't one of the best as far as technicality, but he does a really good job just writing fast, heavy drumming, so I like him a lot as well.

Questlove is extremely awesome, but my vote goes to Jaleel Bunton of TV on the Radio for the show he puts on. Also has awesome hair. And he plays accordion.
Travis Barker actually ain't bad. wow.. must have been the songs that sucked

Dave Grohl get's my vote. Cuz he's more than a drummer - after Nirvana he started the Foo Fighters which are a band I like as well. And a few years ago he played drums in Queens of the Stone Age for a short while and it was as if he never stopped drumming.
- I don't know if anyone has already said this but that's my 2 cents worth anyway.

I've recently discovered George Kollias from Nile, he does 200bpm+ blast beats with one foot. Also from listening to 1349 rather than just Satyricon I've found out how good Frost is.
I'd also like to put forward the late Vitek and his equally kickass replacement Krimh (Decapitated), both ridiculous.

Scott Travis, from Judas Priest. He's the lord!
Painkiller is probably the song which makes me a fan of him.
Number one favorite is so easy: John Bonham, of Led Zeppelin. What a beast.
Other favorites:
Keith Moon - The Who
Neil Peart - Rush
Mike Portney - Dream Theater
Jimmy Chamberlain - Smashing Pumpkins
Dave Grohl - Nirvana
Clive Bunker - Jethro Tull
Ginger Baker - Cream
Gavin Harrison - Porcupine Tree
Steven Drozd - The Flaming Lips
Ringo Starr - The Beatles
Matt Cameron - Soundgarden
